In order to use the google sitemaps service you will need a google account and a sitemap for your website, you can either make your own sitemap or use the one that comes free with your website. If you go to your website, for example mydatesite.diydating.com and go to the page sitemap.php (the address would be (http://mydatesite.diydating.com/sitemap.php) you will see the sitemap for this website.

This is what you will be adding to google sitemaps. Login to your google account, and go to www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps when you login you will see the dashboard screen (see figure 2.0).

Enter the name of the website that you are submitting a site map for and click on the add site button, this will then take you to the verify a site section.

In order to verify you are the owner of the site, you need to select the option to verify via the add a meta tag option. You will then be provided with a snippet of html code; select this code and copy it. Now you need to add this code to your website.

You can do this in several ways, we recommend either of the following:

Login to your diy-dating account and then select the Marketing Tools, then select Site Tracking. Edit the site you are submitting a site map for, add your meta tag to the Google Validation MetaTag box and click Make Changes.

Or you can add Login to your diy-dating account and then edit the site you are submitting a site map for, next go to advanced editor and select edit logged out, paste this code into the head section of the html code.

Once the code has been added to the page go back to the verify a site page on your google account and click on the verify button, if you have added the code successfully, google verification will pass.

The last thing that needs to be done is to add the site map. If you go back to the overview section, you will see the name of your site and it will say verified next to it, click on the add link under sitemap and select add general web sitemap.

On the next screen under my sitemap url is enter “sitemap.php” and click on the add web sitemap button and that's it!

However, it can take several hours so just check back later and make sure everything is done.
